Amtrak has infused America's national rail service with a fresh burst of energy. On-time records are improving... schedules are expanding.... new amenities have been added... and coach are gradually being upgraded. Rising gas prices have been a major catalyst, prompting the Bush Administration to shy away from its anti-Amtrak tradition. Congress has responded by hiking funding for the beleaguered system beginning in 2007.

Travel possibilities range from the sunny coasts of California and Florida to the glitz of Vegas and the Big Apple... plus natural wonders like Niagara Falls, the Grand Canyon and Yosemite and Glacier National Parks.
 
Amtrak trains are as varied as the American scene. High-speed Acela trains whisk riders between Boston and Washington DC at speeds of up to 150-mph/250-km/h... Northerners trade a dozen hours in traffic for a hassle-free Auto Train-trip to Orlando theme parks... and Coast Starlight guests are pampered as they thrill to breathtaking views along the Pacific shore. Services range from frequent commuter runs with Quiet Cars and WiFi to long-distance trains with spectacular views and hotel-style amenities.
